Strengths & weaknesses help you develop a strong sense of your own self-awareness.
Simply put, strengths are the things we perform well. They give us energy and we use them to achieve excellent performance results. Strengths energise you and make you feel in the flow. Where you forget about time and your mind does not drift.
Weaknesses are the complete opposite, they make you feel drained and unmotivated.
How Does Knowing Your Strengths & Weaknesses Help You? Most of us do not really know the things we ‘can do + love to do’. You would think that this should be obvious, but often it is not!
There are so many advantages to understanding your strengths in both your personal and professional life. Some of those advantages are that you gain clarity, confidence, inspiration, motivation and productivity soars!
It is equally important to understand our weaknesses. As a weakness can actually hold you back from achieving great things in your life, it is not always necessary to improve on your weaknesses, as this is sometimes not always possible.
When you understand what your areas of weakness are, ask yourself would I like to improve in those areas or is my weakness an area which drains me completely and not something that I wish to focus on. Instead, drawing on your strengths to help you work around that particular weakness.
Exploring your strengths and weaknesses can be exciting and surprising!
How Does Knowing Your Strengths & Weaknesses Help You? I know that many of my clients really have no idea what energises them or areas in their work & life they find it easier to perform than others. Sometimes this could be a mindset or impostor syndrome scenario. Coaching helps them recognise their potential and uniqueness. Or they genuinely have no idea of what their own strengths and weaknesses are.
Over the years, I have researched and undertaken the various strengths and weakness profiling tools available. However, I believe the Strengths Profile assessment is one of the best available, based on positive psychology and the reporting framework. It allows people to understand their strengths and weaknesses in a language, which is easy to interpret and to optimise your performance and wellbeing.
I believed in the Strengths Profile assessment so much; I became an accredited Strengths Profile Practitioner! Would you like to learn more?
